A practice of ecological activism and a non-violent fight to protect the environment & trees.

Chipko is a Hindi word that means “to stick” or “to embrace” or “to hug”.

We are not discussing hugs during Valentine’s Day, or the hugs with your cute little teddy & soft toys. We are discussing Chipko, the tree-hugging movement.

The story comes from the land of Uttrakhand, a northern Indian state, known for the snow-clad Himalayas, a place of pilgrimage, a tourist paradise, but most importantly for the lush green forests. Pines, cedar, fir, poplar, oaks, and other trees line up on the Himalayan foothills — creating forest cover of more than 60% on the state’s land.

Let’s paint the town red with India’s eco-friendly paints.

“Jab ghar ki raunak badhani ho, Deewaro ko jab sajana ho” — “Nerolac Nerolac”

“Rango ki duniya main aao, Rangeen sapne sajao” — “Nerolac Nerolac”

An Indian evergreen ad jingle meaning — when you want to increase the brightness in the house, decorate the walls of the house, bring colors to the home — use Nerolac paints. The brand in the advertisement was India’s leading paint manufacturer Nerolac.

The Mumbai-based company would have never thought it would face competition from cows and least of all its poo 💩.

How about painting your wall red using cow dung paint

In January 2021, India launched its first eco-friendly paint, named “Khadi Prakritik…

“Bartan Walaaaaaaaaaaaa”

If you are from India, you would recall in the good old days there used to be a hawker who would not sell anything rather would take your old clothes and exchange them with steel utensils, new clothes, or some other knick-knacks.

You can term it as a barter system and Indian homemakers used to have a gala time showcasing their negotiation skills.

At some places, we can still spot them, but…

You’ve Got a mail — If you are expecting Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan to exchange anonymous emails and fell in love again (reference American rom-com). You are mistaken.

Here is something better, while that was a movie, scientists have engineered spinach plants to send out emails in the real world.

In a study conducted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the researchers discovered a mechanism whereby plants can send out alerts.

Spinach, which was used for the research, was fitted with carbon nanotubes (tubes many times narrower than a hair). This transformed the spinach plants into a sensor that can detect chemicals in the soil and nanotubes send a signal. …

It is a fact that the world over electric cars is gradually getting a lot of popularity these days. Cars not only look stylish but more importantly, with no tailpipe emissions these cars are much more environmentally friendly.
